The star has handed over the complete sum of his £25,000 honor cash to the MVT, which operates to save the UK's small live music spots.

Fender was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his new release the album was chosen as the top album of the previous year.

Fender has chosen to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots played in his initial steps.

"I would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help thirty-eight local spots across Britain.

The donation supported spaces that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by water damage, fires and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Other venues received monetary aid in improving infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted musicians and concertgoers.

"The concept that money from shows in big venues supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has said.

Fender is far from the only musician to contribute his award prize money to charitable organizations.

When Pulp won the award in the mid-90s for their release the album, vocalist the singer declared that the act would donate their prize money to the organization War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer she shared her award among multiple organizations, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I gave a £1,000 to the center, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked better apparatus," the artist explained to outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective donated their prize money to the youth organization that supported their band, alongside other independent music bodies.

Additionally winners that year they gave their award to a MS organization after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.

"The victory was quite enough," said artist Small. "The cash was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our success touched the lives of others."

In the past week, the MVT announced it had protected a couple of local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to local control.

The Joiners in that area and The Croft in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership program, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "stakes" in the venues.
